A country is assigned by the donor, not by where the call is announced: USAID, GIZ or British Council programmes are counted to their own countries even when the call is for Ukraine.

Another 428 programmes have no donor country: international organisations (UN, World Bank) and consortia without a single home country.

Every donor here, and every call they run, is on the platform

The map is not a directory. It is drawn from the working GetGrant database: a country lights up only when calls from its funders are already inside, with the description, deadline, budget and the link to apply.

Our parsers collect calls from funder websites and portals every day, and editors check the doubtful ones. When a new donor appears, its country lights up on the map by itself.

With an account you get the calls themselves: search by research area or project goal, filters by budget, deadline and applicant type, matching against your profile, deadline reminders and saved searches.

The donor base we curate by hand

Besides the map we keep a profile for every major donor: who gives the money, to whom, how much and for what. There are 8 profiles so far, while the database itself holds 786 funds from 19 countries. We add profiles for the rest step by step.

Questions about the map

Where does the data come from?
From the GetGrant grant database: open calls collected from funder websites and grant portals. The map is rebuilt from the live database, so the numbers change as the database grows.
Why are only some countries highlighted?
A country is highlighted only when the database already holds grants or funds from it. Grey countries simply have no calls in the database yet.
Why is Belgium the largest donor?
EU-wide programmes such as Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ or the European Defence Fund are counted at Brussels, because they are run by the European Commission rather than by a single country.
Can Ukrainian organisations apply to these grants?
Most of them, yes. Every call in the database states who may apply: universities, NGOs, businesses, municipalities or individual researchers.
How do I find a specific call?
Search inside the platform: describe your project in plain language and the search returns matching calls, or filter the catalogue by budget, deadline, country and applicant type.
How is the country of a grant decided?
By the donor, not by where the call is announced. USAID, GIZ or British Council programmes are counted to their own countries even when the call is open for Ukraine.
