Minigrants of up to UAH 300,000 for human rights initiatives

The Kherson Human Rights House has announced the second wave of its mini-grant competition dedicated to supporting human rights initiatives. The grant scheme aims to provide direct financial assistance to civil society organisations to implement human rights projects in southern Ukraine.

Selected initiatives can receive funding of up to UAH 300,000 per project. The deadline for submitting complete application files is October 20, 2026, at 15:00.

What is funded

The competition supports a broad spectrum of human rights interventions and civic actions. Approved activities can include human rights education, the adaptation and rollout of proprietary teaching methodologies or manuals, and civic education initiatives focused on equality and non-discrimination.

Funding also covers public discussions, open lectures, educational events held in schools or youth spaces, and community-building efforts focused on democratic participation. Additionally, organisations may propose legal assistance for vulnerable groups, applied human rights research, and related thematic interventions.

Who can apply

Eligible entities include civil society organisations, specifically non-governmental organisations and charitable organisations registered as legal entities in Ukraine. Eligible applicants must be officially registered in the national registry of non-profit institutions and organisations.

The geographical focus covers Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. Entities whose official legal address is registered within temporarily occupied territories or in settlements along the line of contact are strictly excluded from participation.

Conditions and requirements

Supported projects must have an implementation period of 8 to 12 months, with an estimated launch date in January 2027. All expenses must strictly relate to the proposed activities and occur within the validity period of the grant agreement.

Ineligible costs include the purchase of land, real estate, or vehicles, as well as capital construction and renovation work. The grant cannot be used for weapons, dual-use goods, debt relief, fines, exchange rate losses, political or religious campaigning, or activities funded by other donors.

How to apply

Applicants must submit a project narrative in Word format and a detailed budget in Excel format, both prepared in free form. Submissions must also include the organisation’s charter, a state registration extract, an extract from the non-profit registry, and CVs of key project personnel.

All documentation must be submitted by email no later than October 20, 2026, at 15:00, using the required subject format indicating the application and organisation name. The donor will not send rejection notifications to unselected applicants and reserves the right to terminate the competition early.

Practical tip. Because the donor accepts application narratives and budgets in a free-form format, use a structured project template that clearly ties each budget line to specific activities and milestones. Ensure that all statutory documents, non-profit certificates, and team CVs are completely updated and compiled before submitting your package.
